The structure of pulse transformer is similar to that of general control transformer, and the core of pulse transformer is composed of conductive winding and magnetic core. However, most pulse transformer cores are made of ring-shaped materials, such as Permalloy or manganese-zinc-iron-gold-oxide magnetic porcelain; its winding is double-sided or triple-sided, and the third winding is generally set to improve certain performance. The characteristic of the winding is that the polarity of the output pulse signal is changed by changing the winding direction of the secondary winding.
The design of a pulse transformer starts with the selection of winding circuits. The main basis for selecting winding circuits is the transformation ratio, and the pulse width, winding operating voltage, pulse repetition frequency, etc. must also be considered. For example, when the pulse width is very wide and the voltage is extremely high, the number of winding turns is large, and multi-layer windings must be used, although its structure is somewhat complicated. However, only after preliminary calculations can it be determined whether this is necessary. Therefore, when starting the design, the only basis for selecting the winding circuit is the transformation ratio.
